Dynasty

Dynasty is no stranger to hard work – he’s been putting building the hype for his much-anticipated EP since the beginning of this year, and he’s willing to take his time putting in the hours to make it perfect before it hits stores. But we know how much you’re looking forward to it (so are we!), so we sat down with him for a little one-on-one time, and got you the éxclusive scoop on the upcoming album, as well as some other tricks this master performer has up his sleeve.

é: You grew up in Brooklyn, but you were born in Puerto Rico? Did your Puerto Rican roots influence you a lot as you began to pursue music?

Dynasty: Yeah, I grew up in Brooklyn, but unfortunately my Puerto Rican roots didn’t influence me as much as you would think. I came to this country at 3-years-old, and we lived in Jamaica, Queens for a while. Five years later we moved to Brooklyn, and by that time nothing but West Indian people (Jamaicans, Guyanese, Haitian, Trinidadian, etc.) were around me. So I grew up around their culture and grew up hearing reggae music, and I fell in love.

é: You recently partnered with S2P Ent. – What has that been like?

Dynasty: It’s been a blessing. The team has been very supportive and its a give and take kind of situation. They listen to what I have to say, and that gives me plenty of room to be creative. Before the company was founded, one of the owners owned a printing company (which he still does, ‘Send 2 Print NY’) and they decided to put together a team and help me with my career. So far its been great and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.

é: You’re EP is slated to release soon, hopefully by the end of this year. How does it feel to be in the final steps of getting it out there? Are you nervous? Excited?

Dynasty: Yeah I am really anxious about the release because I know I have a lot of people waiting. If you look at my Instagram, I’ve been promoting it since the beginning of 2014. All of my fans keep asking me when we’re going to release it. But I want it to be right; I need it to be perfect. We are taking our time, so when the product is finally released there won’t be any disappointment on their end. I like to keep my fans happy.

Dynasty2é: What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?

Dynasty: My greatest achievement is being able to see how far I have come. A young kid from Brooklyn, traveling around the world, performing in front of thousands of fans and people who adore me. And also having a team who believes in me. This is only the beginning, so I’m excited about what is to come.

é: What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you during a performance?

Dynasty: Lol. The most embarrassing thing was forgetting a few lyrics onstage, but it was no big deal. I’m used to freestyling and improving during performances. I can be very witty with my responses, its just something I’ve learned over the years fending for myself without any support. When I was younger I would do a whole song without adlibs or vocals in the background to help me out during a performance. Now I don’t have to worry about those things anymore, every little bit helps.

é: What’s next for you? Any big projects on the horizon you can tell us a little about?

Dynasty: Definitely! Of course more music, that’s a given. We plan to release videos for the singles we have. We were thinking about doing a video for “Sueltate.” Right now we are in negotiations for distributing the record digitally and physically, but I can’t say who yet – things can change in the blink of an eye. We also have plans for doing Dynasty TV, which would basically be me in the studio and my day-to-day activities, and whatever else me and the team come up with.

é: What advice would you give young artists trying to pursue music full-time?

Dynasty: Never give up if you really love your craft. You only fail when you give up. Who knows where I would be if I had given up? Everything happens for a reason, and I am a firm believer of that.

é: Last, but not least, do you have any messages for your fans?

Dynasty: To all my old and new fans: I will never give up on you, thank you for your love and support over the years and what’s to come, also be on the look out for my EP, “Its My time,” look out for Dynasty TV, and don’t forget to check me out on www.princedynasty.com for all news and updates concerning me.

And I want to thank you and the Latin é family for taking the time out to do this interview, It’s been a pleasure!

é: Thank you so much for speaking with us! We’ll be on the lookout for It’s My Time when it hits stores!
