We’d start getting the sangria ready now if we were you…Colombian star, J Balvin, is joining Romeo Santos and Enrique Iglesias as the top-3 nominees for the upcoming Billboard Latin Music Awards—and it’s time to celebrate.
The Music Awards is set to broadcast April 30th and will feature performances from stars like Daddy Yankee, Wisin, and many more. Balvin, having received twelve, I repeat TWELVE, Billboard Music Award Nominations including Top Latin Artist and Top Latin Song (“6 AM”), will be the only rookie Latin artist nominated among some already established Latin heartthrobs.
“6 AM” is exactly what you would expect from Balvin—a subtle, sexy, and irresistible tune whether you’re laying by the pool or getting ready to head out with some friends para una noche loca.
And if you weren’t already convinced of Balvin’s music genius, even NBC News’ “Pop Latino” deemed him as “arguably the hottest [Latin-urban] singer around right now.” In addition to “6 AM” being nominated for Top Latin Song, Balvin’s “Ay Vamos” has hit over 300 million views!
It must be the addicting Latin digital sound of his voice or the way he makes those subtle glances toward the camera that brought “Ay Vamos” to continuously rank as the #1 Latin Video today on VEVO.
The same dreamy look is featured on the cover feature of Alegria Magazine’s, New Third Anniversary Issue, where you can catch him with a gaze that stares deep into your soul, accompanied with enough scruff on his chin to have all the Latinas (and everyone else) falling head over heels.
Balvin was the first reggaeton artist to have a song exceed 100,000,000 million views on VEVO, with his premier song Quiet. He’s come a long way to represent the Latin community and be able to hold his own among other popular artists like Mark Ronson/Bruno Mars, Ellie Goulding, and Maroon 5.
While Balvin continues his climb towards global recognition, everyone should get ready to pop the cork on the champagne during the Billboard Latin Music Awards.
Here at Latin é, we know we will.
