This week in #LatinExcellence we highlight La clinica del pueblo (LCDP) for it’s 33 years of dedication in helping the Hispanic and immigrant community of the District of Columbia to access health related services. Prior to their foundation, these services were very difficult and sometimes not at all reachable.
About La Clinica del Pueblo
La clinica del pueblo’s goal is to provide the community with health services needed in a professional and affordable way, creating different channels for Hispanics to be able to access services needed for themselves and their families as well. Some of the services offered by la clinica are;
- Patient Services (HIV management, medical services, social services and chronic care).
- Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services
- Interpreter Services
- Community Health Action
Since 1983, this organization has been assisting the Hispanic community in Washington DC to access affordable health services. Their services also include physiological services and any other health related issues. This organization is planning in expanding its services to the Maryland area as well and for that reason before this year ends. They are opening a branch in Hyattsville MD.
