Leslie Grace releases her album June 25th, 2013. Until then, check out her new single “Be My Baby” available now on itunes. I had the pleasure of interviewing this talented young woman. She has a heart of gold and I wish her nothing but the best for her and her career. What an inspiration!

é: Congratulations on being the youngest female to reach #1 on Latin Radio with your hit song “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow”! What an amazing accomplishment at the start of your career.

LG: “It definitely is a beautiful welcoming …I still don’t believe it when people ask me how it feels, because it all happened so fast, you know . I always had this dream that I would be able to reach certain goals with my music, from a very young age. But I never thought it would happen this fast, and certainly not so ground breaking to make history with latin billboards. So it was a beautiful feeling to find out I was the youngest female artist to reach that milestone. It was pretty cool.”

é: When can your fans expect the release of your anticipated debut album?

LG: “June 25th, 2013. It is a little bit of everything I am. I let it be known to everyone all my different parts of who I am. I grew up in a Latin household. I am Dominican but was raised in the United States. It has a little bit of R&B, pop, all my bachata songs, and dance/techno… so a little bit of that. Maybe my fans haven’t had the opportunity to hear that. I am very, very excited to see what people think.”

é: Who are some of your favorite music icons?

LG: “I always grew up listening to bachata and R&B music with my family. In my household, I grew up listening to bachata all the time. I grew up listening to Beyonce and a lot of Brian McKnight as R&B artists. Beyonce would be one of the people I look up to with her performances for inspiration.”

Leslie Graceé: Being in the public eye as a young woman, do you consider yourself a role model for young girls?

LG: “I definitely feel like I am. I think that is hard because I know I am still growing up. I know girls maybe are watching tv, on the phones, playing with ipads, listening to the radio but they are growing up with me. It’s a beautiful thing when I can use my music to relate to girls out there who are looking at me through media. Media is our biggest outlet, at least for our generation. It’s beautiful that I can connect with them and be an example and try to grow with them. I do consider myself an example, but I know it is a huge responsibility. I feel like, along with my music, it is part of my purpose. When I get to meet little girls at the shows, they are so cute. They are so young but I am just like them and it is so cool.”

é: When you aren’t working and on the road… what are some of your favorite pastimes/hobbies?

LG: “I love hanging out with my family. With my older sister we like to sing karoke. We do this thing called front liners where we sing a couple of songs. She does a line then I do a line and we go back and forth. We also love to watch movies. I am obsessed with Netflix. I am always on Netflix when I don’t have to work. It is my last year of high school, and I don’t go out as often because I have a lot of stuff to do. My friends will come over, though, and we will do something in the neighborhood. I like to hang out with family and friends a lot. It is hard, but I do have my free time.”

é: What upcoming projects do you have?

LG: “My tour. We are currently planning a tour and I will be coming soon to a city near you! I am very, very excited because it is the very first time that I am with a band. It has always been my dream to be with a band. It is going to be really cool! I hope that my fans will watch me grow. It is going to be a ride.”
