PEOPLE en Espanol Event

Last month we got to attend the PEOPLE en Español event in NYC and personally meet and chat with PEOPLE en Español’s Editor-in-Chief, Armando Correa, about this exciting event. We also got to see how their magazine was brought to life for two days of entertainment, food and lots of Latino pride for the public to enjoy for free. It was the perfect way to end Latino Heritage Month!

The celebration included inspiring celebrity panel discussions, musical performances, and intimate meet-and-greets and autograph signings. Some of the celebrities in attendance were Emilio and Gloria Estefan, Adamari López, Thalia, Pitbull, Rita Moreno, and “Orange is the New Black”’s actress, Dascha Polanco. During the festivities, actress Angélica Polanco received an Ícono de PEOPLE en Español Award.

Sponsors had booths all over the Jacob Javits Center’s North Pavilion with an array of activities, gifts and treats! Verizon was allowing guests to call their friends and family members for free all around the world. Coca-Cola had a festive booth with music, refreshments, #OrgullosoDeSer photo booth, and a sand bottle station to create bottles filled with sand in the colors of your flag. Other sponsors in attendance were JetBlue, Diageo and Libre by Nexus, among others.

Between the amazing lineup of stars and support of great sponsors this event was a total success and a great way to spend a day in the city. Most of all, it was a lively vehicle to bring awareness of the power of Latinos in America and why we should be so proud of our roots. Before you go to mark your calendar for next year, listen to what Editor-in-Chief of PEOPLE en Español, Armando Correa, had to say when we asked him “What is it that PEOPLE en Español brings to the Latino community to uplift them?”
