Sofia Margarita Vergara is a Columbian-American actress, model, and comedian. Born in Barranquilla, Colombia on July 10, 1972. Her mother, Margarita Vergara Dávila de Vergara, is a housewife. Her father, Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo, provides cattle to the meat industry. She has five siblings. Sofia studied at a private bilingual Spanish/English school. Sofia then went on to study pre-dentistry. However, a photographer discovered Sofia whilst at the beach, and this led to various jobs in modeling and television. Sofia would go on to become a Univision television personality in the mid-1990s after she relocated to the United States. She’s hosting the travel show Fuera de Serie, as well as the variety show A Que No Te Atreves. Also, Sofia caught the attention of English-language audiences in the 1995 American Comedy Awards.
Sofia received the Hispanic Woman of the year award by the end of the decade. In addition, Sofia hosted Colombian TV shows until 1998, when her brother was murdered and her family relocated to Miami.
