The summer is coming to an end shortly… Sorry to ruin the fiesta. Throughout these months of warm weather you have probably enjoyed time basking in the sun, taking refreshing dips in the pool, and even swimming in the ocean with friends! As thrilling or relaxing as summer can be, it may involve excessive exposure to the sun, chlorine, and other elements which can cause damage to your skin and hair.

The first rule of summer care? Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! And that means refreshing skin moisturizers as well as lots of water… the kind that you drink, not just the one you’ll be swimming in.

Check out these tips from beauty expert, Leonardo Rocco, to help revitalize your beauty routine after the summer months:

Tip #1: Exfoliate and Moisturize Your Skin

After a season of sun exposure, skin may tend to feel drier and rougher as the upper layer of skin gets thicker and harder. Exfoliating regularly can help remove dead skin cells and their build up, bringing seemingly-dead skin back to life. As you may already know, the cardinal rule for keeping skin looking and feeling smooth is the application of a hydrating cream after exfoliation, such as POND’S Cold Cream Cleanser, which contains 50% moisturizer and is Dermatologist tested, non-comedogenic, hypoallergenic and suitable for those with sensitive skin. These two basic steps will help infuse your skin with vital moisture after soaking in the sun all summer. Remember, exfoliating and moisturizing is not only meant for the skin on your face, but your entire body. Aim to exfoliate and moisturize your whole body at least once a week, all year long.

Tip #2: Use a Hydrating Body Wash

Soaking in water can cause surprising damage to your skin. Those occasional dips in the ocean and pool can strip away natural oils, making you feel dry and patchy. To recuperate some of the lost moisture, shower with a hydrating body wash or soap like Caress’ Daily Silk Body Wash that contains moisturizing beads. This beads and refreshing scent will have you feeling soft and fresh at all times.

Tip #3: Start a Hair Rehab Process

Your face is radiant, and your body is silky smooth. Now, don’t forget about your hair! After all those days of wind, sun, chlorine, salt water, and air conditioning, your hair probably feels fried and brittle. It is important to pay special attention to your hair care routine and opt for shampoos and conditioners that will help your locks retain as much moisture as possible, such as Suave Professional’s Sea Mineral Infusion Moisturizing Body Shampoo & Conditioner, which contains a healthy blend of rich minerals from the sea providing your hair with nourishment and moisture. You should also plan to treat your hair to a deep conditioning hair mask or DIY it by using coconut oil in your hair for a full day before washing.
