Business | CHLI Spotlight

This month’s CHLI Spotlight is on Troup Coronado. Check this out:

“A native of San Antonio, Texas, Troup earned a B.A. Degree in Government from the University of Texas at Austin and received his J.D. from Notre Dame Law School. Troup began his professional career as a staffer for Senator Orrin Hatch of Utah, first on his personal staff, then later as a law clerk on the Chairman’s staff in the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Following his service in Congress, Troup served as the Director of Government Relations for Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. In that role, he advised and counseled corporate officers on federal legislation concerning the broadcast television industry.

TCGMr. Coronado then served as the Assistant Vice President for Federal Relations in the governmental affairs office for BellSouth Corporation, helping secure regulatory approval in its merger with AT&T in 2006 and managing the transition. After the merger, Troup initially served as AT&T’s Senior Director of Federal Relations in their government affairs office, advocating the company’s interests to Members of Congress. He then served as Executive Director of Constituency Relations based in San Francisco where he managed AT&T’s external statewide relationships with the Hispanic, LGBT, Native American, Small Business and Consumer Education communities. Troup was then promoted to Vice President, External Affairs-Los Angeles. In this role, he was responsible for external, governmental, and philanthropic affairs in the west Los Angeles area. He was also the company’s lead executive in managing relationships with national LGBT organizations.

In 2011, Troup left AT&T to found TROUP, a corporate strategy and communications firm based in Los Angeles. The firm provides Fortune 100 corporate clients a roadmap to secure a competitive advantage through diversity and inclusion. TROUP specializes in emerging markets within the LGBT, Latino and other under-served communities.

With all his success, Troup is a firm believer in giving back to the community and is a fixture on several boards and philanthropic organizations. Aside from being one of the founding members of the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute, where he served as our first Treasurer, he has served on the boards of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, and Pets Are a Wonderful Support (PAWS). Troup was also a national board member of GLAAD, Equality California, and the Human Rights Campaign Business Council. Troup was named a “Legal Rising Star” by the Washington chapter of the Hispanic National Bar Association.”

Latin é is proud to spread the love for this incredible leader in business, entrepreneurship and innovation.
