It’s one of the most festive times of the year. Fall is always filled with celebrations with family and friends; BBQs, pool parties and outdoor fun are rampant. When joining a festivity is always nice to treat the host(ess) to some help in the form of extra food or drinks. However, what to bring seems to always be a conundrum, no matter how many parties we have attended in the past. This year, skip the classic tortilla chips with salsa, and be the creative mind behind that somethin’ sweet to enjoy after the charcoal has cooled down.
To help you achieve this goal, I present to you three unique recipes that use cereal as one of their ingredients to try on your next fall fiesta…
Fruit is a healthy alternative to more decadent desserts, as well as a refreshing alternative to ice cream when kept in the freezer. Try these Mango fruit spears! They are easy to make, refreshing, healthy, crunchy and spicy. Everyone will wonder how something so simple could be so surprisingly fun to eat.
Who doesn’t love chocolate and a good churro? These fried sticks of dough are an awesome addition to any party. They can be eaten cold and they are even more fun to eat when you have a variety of sweet dipping sauces to explore with them! This recipe call for a Dulce de Leche sauce, but you can try chocolate, caramel, marshmallow… even Strawberry marmalade. Why not make it a churro bar and let people choose their churros, sauces and other fun additions? Let your imagination go loco.
As a Puerto Rican, Flan is everything! Getting creative with different flavors and additions, like in this recipe, which uses Fruity Pebbles cereal, is always an interesting experience for your tastebuds. I love that the colors in this flan make it look extra festive, and the crunch and flavor it brings to this classic is also fall fiesta fun!
