Alright, young filmmakers, get your cameras ready!
The Official Latino Short Film Festival mission is to showcase, nurture and support the emerging creative American Latino filmmaker in the United States. With the evident lack of representation of Latinos in studio films and T.V. it’s really up to US (The American Latino) to tell our stories from our perspective. This Festival is created, funded and organized by American Latino Filmmakers who believe that supporting the emerging talent is the only way we will start to see a real representation of us in the BIG SCREEN.
If you are an American Latino Filmmaker and have something to say, write it, rehearse it, film it, edit it and submit it. There is NO charge to submit your film.
There will be awards for the following:
Best Short Film: $ 1,000 Grand Prize
Second Place: $750
Third Place: $500
In addition, there will be a few $250 merit awards.
According to the official terms and conditions, the film can be any genre so long as it is scripted, contains at least one lead Latino/a actor/ress, is filmed between January 1, 2013 and July 4, 2015, is edited on 720 or 1080 HD format, and is between 3-20 minutes long. Filmmakers must be at least 14-years-old to participate, and those under the age of 18 will need parent’s consent to submit. Other than that, let your imaginations run wild and get crazy and creative!
The contest is FREE for all participants, so don’t let anything hold you back.
