About The Fuego Project
At Latin é we uplift Latinos through quality entertainment by challenging the status quo, championing diversity and thinking of innovative ways to revolutionize the Latin Entertainment industry. When we began thinking of projects to work with, we thought of the Dominion High School Latin Dance competition and wanted to help bring attention to the competition in hopes to get more students to participate as well as support from the community. To do this we created Fuego a web based reality show following the different High School teams following them from practice to the day of competition.
Season 1
We began filming in January 2015 with a competition in March of 2015, there were three schools which participated in the first season where were, Dominion H.S., Archbishop Carol H.S. and Wheaton H.S. The project was as success, it helped generate buzz about the competition and increased student participation. As we began post production of Season 1 (Watch Here) and began Season 2 film planing, we were informed that the competition this year was endangered of being cancelled due to lack of competitors participation in the event. So we at Latin é have stepped in to help. We are committed to encouraging and empowering our youth and supporting their hard work by continuing the competition and hosting an annual finale event to crown our winner.
The Competition
This year we are working on hosting the event at the Lisner Auditorium in DC on November 5, 2016 and WE NEED YOUR HELP to save this after school program that’s a vital part of empowering our youth. The Fuego after school program and dance competition goes beyond the dance. It provides our youth with the opportunity to embrace their Latin culture and share it with other non latinos, supports fitness and movement which combats childhood obesity – currently an epidemic for our youth; and empowers our youth by giving them an opportunity to enhance their leadership and team building skills. This program and our finale event will motivate and encourage the creativity, self-expression and dedication of your young people who are participating in the Fuego dance programs.
