Merengue Tipico, also known as merengue cibaeno or perico ripiao, is a musical genre that originated in the Dominican Republic. Dating back to the 1850’s Merengue Tipico is the oldest and most traditional style of merengue to date. But now, the up and coming group, Tipico Urbano, is looking to change that.
These four Dominican youngsters are adding some spice to the genre with their new song, a remake of the much acclimated O.T. Genasis song, “I’m in Love with the Coco.” The song has gone viral over the last few months, and now Tipico Urbano has decided to shake up the lyrics to make a cleaner version that speaks about love and longing. This rendition has become an overnight success in the Tri-state area, and now the band is taking it to a whole new level.
Get ready to hear “I’m in Love with Coco” on the radio, as Tipico Urbano gears up to launch their media tours in both Miami and the Dominican Republic. These kinds of Tipico are ready to take on the world.
