Chino y Nacho are going to need a bigger trophy case. The prolific duo was recognized for their hit single, “Tú Me Quemas,” at the 2016 BMI Awards last month.
Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) is one of three performing rights organizations in the United States. It helps a diverse group of songwriters, composers, and publishers distribute their music and get paid royalties for their work. Members include Shakira, Selena, Taylor Swift, Maroon 5, and Michael Jackson’s music catalog.
BMI’s annual gala recognizes the success of their composers and companies for delivering songs with a lot of air play.
The Venezuelan pop duo, consisting of Jesús Alberto Miranda Pérez (Chino) and Miguel Ignacio Mendoza Donatti (Nacho), were originally a part of the ’90s boy band Calle Ciega before breaking off at the end of the 2000s to form their own duo. Since then, Chino y Nacho have dominated the airwaves, most recently with their collaboration with Daddy Yankee, “Andas en Mi Cabeza.”
