Roberto Tapia is at it again. Four years after his last album, El Muchacho hit #1 on Billboard‘s Top Latin Albums chart, Tapia has slid back into the top spot with his single, “Vale La Pena.”
Tapia has quickly become one of the preeminent Regional Mexican musicians of his generation. Influenced by his upbringing in Culiacan, his earlier music tended to blend Norteña music with hints of electronica and hip-hop. 2012’s El Muchacho was the first time he fully adopted the Regional Mexican style. “Vale La Pena” is a continuation of his shift.
His musical transformation is certainly working out for him. Tapia is nominated at the 2016 Billboard Latin Music Awards for Artist of the Year, Soloist for Regional Mexican Songs. The award show will broadcast live on April 28 on Telemundo.
“Vale La Pena” is definitely worth a listen. Check it out now and be sure to follow Latin é for the latest in Latino Entertainment.
