Xavier Carrillo’s dreams are coming true. The 17-year-old singer-songwriter has signed with Fonovisa Records, a division of Universal Music Latin Entertainment.
For “Cheyo,” as he is known, success came at an early age. At 12, Carrillo was hired as the accordionist for the Mexican Retional music group, “Bukanas de Culiacan.” One year later he was invited to form part of Alfredo Rios’ band, “El Komander.” Since then, the prodigious singer has been working hard to make himself known in the Regional Mexican music genre.
That hard work and commitment is paying off as he joins the ranks of other powerhouse Regional Mexican singers at Universal. As Carrillo puts the finishing touches on his new studio album (expected to release early next year), he’s already making waves.
