Then, mark your calendars for an exciting event: November 18th and 6:30 p.m., Mio will host a book event and panel about Puerto Rico’s political future. Robert Friedman, former Washington correspondent for the late San Juan Star newspaper, will discuss two of his novels, the recently published “The Surrounding Sea” and “Shadow of the Fathers.” The novels look into, among other things, the highly ambivalent political relationship between the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
After a short reading, the island’s political fate will be discussed by Jeffrey Farrow, former White House liaison to the island during the Clinton administration, Federico de Jesus, former deputy director of the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration, and Enrique Fernandez, who was deputy chief of staff for Rep. Luis Gutierrez of Illinois.
The audience is welcome to participate in the discussion.
