Latin Pride at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards

Less than a month after the exciting 2019 Billboard Latin Music Awards, the biggest Billboard event of the year, the 2019 Billboard Music Awards just happened, and some serious records were broken! This years ceremony was at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, and was hosted by American Pop Singer Kelly Clarkson. Today, we’re going to break down all the Latin artists featured in this year’s award ceremony, including Cardi B, Mariah Carey, Ozuna and more!

One of our favorite female rappers of all time, Cardi B, had an amazing year. Her hard work was well honored as she lead the entire event in nominations after being nominated for 21 awards! The ended up winning 6 of them, with 3 of them being attributed to her hit song with Maroon 5, “Girls Like You.”  We are beyond happy for the funny and outgoing rapper, and we’re excited to see what she has in store for us this year!

One of the legends in the music industry, part Venezuelan Mariah Carey also brought some amazing moments to the show. She performed 5 of her hit songs, and was also chosen to receive the prestigious “Icon Award!” Good for her!

After stealing the show at this years Billboard Latin Music Awards, Ozuna added to his collection of awards by winning Top Latin Artist, and Top Latin Album. In both of these categories, he also completed with some of our other favorite Latino artists, including Bad Bunny, J Balvin, Romeo Santos, and Anuel AA. Bruno Mars was also nominated for 2 awards, but sadly did not leave with any of them.

Some serious Latin pride was shown this year at the Billboard Music Awards, and we’re super excited! More importantly, so many of our favorite latin artists received nominations for collaborative work,  like Cardi B, Bad Bunny, and J Balvin’s song “I Like it” or DJ Snake, Cardi B, Ozuna, and Selena Gomez’s “Taki Taki.” The only thing we love more about our latin artists getting the recognition they deserve, is the fact that they are working together and sharing the glory!
