Dave East
Dave East (David Brewster Jr.) is an American rapper, songwriter, and actor from Harlem, born on June 3, 1988, New York City. He spent his life between East Harlem where his mother resided, and Queensbridge where he lived with his aunt. Dave is a Bajan and Dominican descent. He played basketball and football during high school at Springbook. Additionally, he played in the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) with then-future NBA players. Dave attended the University of Richmond right after leaving at Springbrook high school, and then transferred again to Towson University. He decides to leave the University after having an issue with the coaching staff. Shortly afterward, he started running into legal trouble in Baltimore, Maryland. Dave’s basketball dream was over but, it allowed the former hooper to focus more on his music career.
Furthermore, Dave’s first mixtape Change of Plans released in 2010 which gained him a little recognition. Dave continued his career in music and released the mixtapes Insomnia, American Greed, Don’t Sleep, and No Regrets. He next released the mixtape Black Rose in 2014 and Hate Me Now in 2015. Both if these were moderately successful. Dave’s popularity grew as his next mixtape Kairi Chanel reached the 38th position on the US Bilboard 200. He released EP ‘Paranoia: A True Story released in 2017 and it became his most successful work. The song reached 9th position on US Billboard 200. Also, in the same year, he released a mixtape named Karma. Dave’s EP ‘Paranoia 2’ released in 2018. It entered the US Billboard 200, where it stood at the 61st position. It was met with mostly positive reviews.
