J Balvin: First Latino to Headline Lollapalooza
It’s not Latino history month, but history is being made! J Balvin is breaking barriers as it has been announced that he will be headlining Lollapalooza, making him the first Latino to do so.
You may recognize the Colombian reggaeton singer from his breakthrough single “6 AM” featuring Puerto Rican singer Farruko. The song peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart and began his rise to fame.
In 2018, his made his hit collaboration with Spanish artists Cardi B and Bad Bunny in “I Like It.” The song became number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 and continued his success.
Recently, it was announced that J Balvin will be headlining in Lollapalooza, an annual 4-day music festival based in Chicago, Illinois. The festival was created in 1991 and this is the first time in its history that a Latino artist is headlining. You go J Balvin!
The festival, which will take place August 1st through August 4th will include other Latino artists in the festival such as Sonia de Los Santos, Boombox Cartel, Rosalía, 123 Andres, Boy Pablo, Malu Trevejo and Deorro.
