Jessica Alba (Jessica Marie Alba) is an American actress and businesswoman. She was born in Pomona, California on April 28, 1981. Both her parents are of Mexican descent. Alba showed an interest in acting at the age of 5. In 1992, her mother took her to an acting competition where the grand prize was free acting classes. Alba won the grand prize and took her acting lessons. Nine months later an agent signed Alba. Her first appearance on film was in the 1994 feature Camp Nowhere. Alba appeared in two commercials of Nintendo and J.C. Penney. She was also featured in several independent films and television series. She studied acting at the Atlantic Theater Company. She rose to fame in Hollywood in her appearance in the movie Never Been Kissed and as the female lead in the comedy horror film Idle Hands.
Moreover, in 2000, she played the role of Max Guevara, on the television series Dark Angel. In 2003, she starred as an aspiring dancer-choreographer in Honey. In 2005, she played as Nancy Callahan, as part of a long ensemble cast in Sin City. In the same year, she played the role of Susan Storm-Richards or the Invisible Woman in Marvel’s movie Fantastic Four. The film was a commercial success despite the negative reviews. In 2007, Alba reprised her role in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Alba also portrayed as Dane Cook in Good luck Chuck. In 2008, she hosted the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Science and Technical Awards. Alba made her acting transition in the horror genre in the film The Eye remake of the Hong Kong original. Her performance itself received mixed reviews. She garnered a Teen Choice for Choice Movie Actress: Horror–Thriller.
Furthermore, in 2010, her first role is a prostitute in The Killer Inside Me. Her second film was the romantic comedy Valentine’s Day. Next is the action film Machete taking the role of an immigration officer. Her last 2010 film was the comedy Little Fockers as an extrovert drug representative. Then in 2011, in the film Spy Kids: All the Time in the World she portrayed as a retired spy. Alba next appeared in the comedy film A.C.O.D. Alba also made her voice acting debut in the animated film Escape from Planet Earth. Also, in 2013, Alba reprised her role on two film sequels as the Immigration officer in Machete Kills and Nancy Callahan in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.
In 2014, she next took the roles of a cabaret show performer in the Dear Eleanor and the athletic girlfriend of a successful and well-respected English professor in the romantic comedy Some Kind of Beautiful. In addition, she played the role of a receptionist at a Limo company in the thriller Stretch, an arms dealer in Barely Lethal and a documentary filmmaker in The Veil. Alba also played the girlfriend of a retired hitman in Mechanic: Resurrection alongside Jason Statham. Alba won 15 awards and 40 nominations.
