Marc Anthony is a Puerto Rican singer, songwriter, and actor. He was most recently awarded 2016 Latin Recording Academy® Person of the Year Award at the 17th Annual Latin Grammys. He was not always Marc Anthony, born Marco Antonio Muniz in New York after a popular Puerto Rican singer. Needless to say, Marc Anthony was destined for greatness. He started as a backup singer for groups such as Menudo and the Latin Rascals. He was also influenced by huge names in the Latin music industry like Puente, Ruben Blades and Juan Gabriel. Marc was inspired to create his own Spanish-based sound. As fame grew for him he changed his name to Marc Anthony to avoid being confused with the popular artist he was named after.
