Remmy Valenzuela’s video for his 2015 hit, “Mi Princesa” has surpassed 100 million views on YouTube, and it’s not hard to see why.

Mood lighting, pretty costumes, pretty people, and a vintage setting complete the video for the Latin Grammy nominee. But it’s not only the video that has a nostalgic feel. The song harkens back to vintage Norteño music with big band musicians playing back up and riffs right out of the mid-twentieth century. Paired together, the video was destined to be a hit.

It’s been long journey for the Mexican-born singer. Before 2014, Valenzuela was best known for escaping death not once, but twice. Valenzuela was wounded by crossfire between government agents and an organized crime syndicate in Nayarit, Mexico in 2014, and before that, he survived a potentially fatal car crash.

Valenzuela fought back and in the fall of 2014, Valenzuela’s single, “Te Olvidaré” reached No. 32 on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart. Since then it’s been one hit after another, most recently with the album Mi Vida En Vida, a collection of the singer’s romantic hits, that debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard’s Top Regional Mexican Albums chart.

As we wait to hear more from the young artist, give his video a watch and be sure to follow Latin é for the latest in Latino Entertainment.
