The Warning

The Mexican band, The Warning, gives hard rock a whole new meaning. Daniela (14-year-old guitarist/vocalist), Paulina (12-year-old bassist), and Alejandra (9-year-old drummer) make up the young and talented group of sisters behind the newest trend in rock-in-roll.

These girls look sweet and adorable at first glance, and despite their nontraditional taste in music, they really are! They have a whole page on their website dedicated to thanking those who have influenced them and helped them along their journey. Everyone from family to mentors makes the list and it is both humbling and heartwarming to see these rising stars reaching out to those who’ve helped them along the way. The girls are on to great things. From recording original tracks and releasing their first EP on iTunes to preforming on shows such as The Ellen DeGeneres Show and Pal Norte 2015, The Warning is giving no warning of slowing down. Not to mention they raised $30,000 with the help of their fans to attend The Berklee College of Music’s summer program this year.

These girls have some serious talent, and can we just recall their ages? 14, 12, and 9! I am definitely no child prodigy, but I can relate with The Warning. Growing up, my house was filled with Vicente Fernandez, Pedro Infante, Shakira, and Carlos Vives. But AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses, Aerosmith, and Led Zeppelin played just as much. So despite being 100% Latina, I like hard rock too! It just goes to show that music is for everyone, no matter your background.

All I have to say to these girls is, “Rock on!”
