Top 10 Bruno Mars Songs

Top 10 Bruno Mars Songs

In honor of his new song with Cardi B, “Please Me” (Spoiler alert: it’s a jam), we’ve compiled a list of the Top 10 songs from the Puerto Rican superstar. And before we start, we can tell you firsthand, it’s hard to choose just ten songs from his incredible catalogue.

10. It Will Rain

In this pop-soul ballad, Bruno Mars tells a story of love and the agony of heartache. The result is a song that’s equal parts beautiful, tragic, and oh-so catchy. The song charted in multiple countries and even went three times platinum.

9. Just the Way You Are

Here it is, the song that started it all. It was this track that really catapulted Bruno Mars to stardom, earning him a Grammy for “Best Male Pop Vocal Performance” in 2011. The song peaked on multiple charts worldwide and the song itself was certified diamond by the RIAA. For that reason alone, how could we not include this one?

8. Locked out of Heaven

An interesting fusion of reggae rock with hints of new wave and funk, Bruno Mars established himself as a versatile artist with this song. The song charted in the top ten for several countries, hitting number one in the US. And let us just say, if you haven’t seen Jane and Michael sing it on Jane the Virgin yet, you’re missing out.

7. Grenade

Is it overdramatic? Yes. But is it also an absolute bop? Definitely. This was Mars’ third number one hit-single, asserting itself as a stand-out track on his incredible Doo-Wops & Hooligans debut album.

6. Finesse

Bruno Mars and Cardi B, what’s not to love? The song is a mix of R&B and new jack swing and yet, feels incredibly 90s. With this track, Bruno proves yet again that he is an artist capable of traversing genre boundaries, even showing off his capability to capture sounds from entirely different eras.

5. Versace on the Floor

“Versace on the Floor” isn’t just catchy, it’s undeniably cool. It feels like a song from another era, dabbling in sounds that are both old-school and virtually unheard of in today’s music scene. Bruno’s vocals really get a chance to shine in this piece, showing off that classic, R&B twang of his.

4. Treasure

“Treasure” is just pure, unbridled, fun. It feels like a love letter to the 80s with its funk, disco, and soul influences. When he dropped this track in 2012, we knew that Bruno Mars was here to stay –and we’re sure glad for it.

3. That’s What I Like

Coming off his third studio album, 24K Magic, “That’s What I Like” is a hip-hop, soul, and new jack, swing, and funk masterpiece. It peaked at number one on the US charts, becoming certified seven-times platinum by the RIAA, and became one of the best-selling singles worldwide.

2. Uptown Funk

Admit it, this song is still stuck in your head and it’s not just because of the slew of memes it was featured in. With it’s impact on pop culture, the song was a worldwide phenomenon. It spend 14 consecutive weeks at number one on the US charts alone, became one of the best-selling singles of all time, and won two Grammy Awards including Record of the Year. If that wasn’t enough, in 2018, the music video became the fifth most viewed YouTube video of all time.

1. When I Was Your Man

This song is an emotional pop piano ballad, with lyrics detailing the heartbreak and regret Mars feels from letting his lover get away. The song saw immense chart success, was nominated for several awards, and became one of the best-selling singles of all time. The video is charmingly simple and the vocal performance is one of Mars’ absolute strongest.

We told you it was hard to narrow it down to just ten songs. Honorable mentions go to “Marry You”, “Gorilla”, and “24K Magic.” But what about you? Do you agree with our list? What songs do you think should be on here?
