Valentine’s Day Forgotten? Your Top 10 Solutions:

By Sohrob Ganjbaksh; February 5th 2020

Valentine's Day

Valentine’s Day is a beautiful and special day in human culture. We essentially celebrate the love we have for the people closest to us. However, for us more forgetful types, it can turn into a hellish nightmare of spousal disappointment and contempt. Hopefully this list can provide you with a few ideas to get you out of the hole you’ve dug yourself into.

1. Buy ALL the Valentine’s Day Chocolates

Sounds ridiculous, but you goofed. Time to make up for it by at least doubling the original   gesture. The quantity and quality of the chocolate will depend on your partner’s level of devastation. Quantity is great, but can backfire. Where are they going to put all this? Are you trying to kill them? However, one cannot go wrong with the gourmet option. Get them those Spanish chocolates your cousin will not shut up about.

2.  Laying Low

This is definitely not your best option, but probably the first one that pops into your head. It can be pulled off, but this option requires a certain amount of finesse that the other more wholesome options won’t. In other words, some harmless white lies to protect your Wubbie’s feelings. A lost phone. A work emergency. Perhaps you were dying bedridden. Be creative. But not too creative.

3. Plan A Big Valentine’s Trip

Here we are. The big guns. Probably the most powerful option on this list. Chances are one of you were thinking about this even before the day was botched. Well, voilà. Here’s your excuse to finally go through with that perfect trip you’ve been saving in the back of your mind.

4. Breakfast in Bed

One of the most sentimental and wholesome gestures on the list, the Breakfast in Bed tactic is almost a sure fire way to start the apology-day off to a good start. But if this apology-day ends in the morning with breakfast, make sure the O.J. is freshly squeezed and that the Spanish omelette is not a frittata.

5. Spa Tickets

They deserve this. Work has been rough. Their back is killing them. The look on their face says it all. Use this as an opportunity to let your significant other take the day off with massages and other relaxing spa treatments. After many hours of commercial rejuvenation, they will be sure to thank you for their physical recovery.

6. An Amazing Valentine’s Dinner

Meals and Valentine’s Day go hand in hand. An intimate candle lit dinner accompanied by a little too much wine is always a formula for romance. While a fancy restaurant is always appreciated, a home cooked meal made with love can be even more profound. If you don’t know your way around the kitchen, here’s a link to a some fantastic Spanish cocktails the will knock their socks off.

7. Concert

Getting tickets to an artist your partner wants to see is always a good idea. Whether it’s a relaxing band on a picnic field or a head banging rave, the event is sure to remind you of how much fun you two have together. And just in case there isn’t an artist in town your partner is a fan of, be sure to try out new things that you two can discover together. A perfect example being something like a Spanish Music Festival.

8. Special Valentine’s Day Jewelry

Unfortunately for our bank accounts, nothing says “I’m sorry” and “I love you” more than jewelry. Now nobody is asking you to get the heart of the sea from Titanic, but a little sparkle can go a long way. Imagine a necklace you can put around their neck yourself.  A flashy watch that they can brag about to their friends. Earrings to match last year’s ring. Jewelry is an amazing way of showing just how dazzling your mate really is.

9. Special Thematic Intercourse

You knew this idea was coming. And why not? It’s Valentine’s Day. Or at least it was. Time to make up for that by giving them a night they soon won’t forget. This involves the pizzazz needed to get and keep them in the mood. Music? Check. Champagne? Check. Flower pedals? Check. Make them feel special. Don’t let it become just another Saturday night.

10. Stuffed Animals are a +

Surprise! It’s humongous! Well of course it is, it represents your love and regret for forgetting one of the most important days of the year. One of the reasons why this route is so effective is because it can be combined with other ideas on this list. All you have to do is let “Teddy” be the gift bear-er and you’ll be in clear, for now.

Honorable Mentions:

Make Something Meaningful

It would’ve been meaningful if you remembered Valentine’s Day. But alas it has come to using your imagination and memory to fashion together something to remind them why they don’t actually hate your forgetful self. Knowing nothing about you or your partner, it is difficult to give you particular advice going this route. But if it feels right and is coming from the heart, what could go wrong?
