Danny Trejo

Daniel (Danny) Trejo is an American actor who was born on May 16, 1944, at the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. Danny is the son of Alice Rivera and Dionisio (Dan) Trejo. Also, he is a second cousin of filmmaker Robert Rodriguez. But, Danny and Robert were unaware that they were related until the filming of Desperado.  He is a child drug addict and criminal, Danny is in and out of jail for eleven years and prison in California in the 1960s. Danny suggested that his physical appearance contributed that leads to getting in trouble. While serving in San Quentin Prison, he won the lightweight and welterweight boxing titles. Danny completed a 12-step rehabilitation program that changed his life.

Danny is working as a youth drug counselor. While he’s working a teenage patient asked for his help dealing with cocaine problems on the set of Runaway Train. He was immediately offered a role as a convict extra, because of his tough tattooed appearance. Also on the set was a screenwriter who did time with Danny in San Quentin. Remembering Danny’s boxing skills, the screenwriter offered him $320 per day to train the actors for a boxing match. Andrey Konchalovskiy saw Danny training Eric Roberts and immediately offered him a featured role as an opponent in the film. Danny has appeared in many other films, usually as a tough criminal or villain.

Since then, Danny has become a prolific actor in both films and television, appearing in five or more movies per year, in various genres. Danny appeared in such major release as Marked for Death, Blood In Blood Out, Desperado, and Heat. Danny is also known for his distinctive appearance. In addition to his heavily lined face, scarred from cystic acne and a brawl, and the long hair and mustache he usually sports, he has displayed the large tattoo on his chest for many roles. His other appearances are in From Dusk till Dawn, Anaconda, Con Air, The Replacement Killers, and Point Break. As well as, Spy Kids, XXX, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, and The Devil’s Rejects.
