Romeo Santos (Anthony Santos) is an American singer, songwriter, actor, record producer, and the former lead vocalist of the Bachata and Aventura. Born on July 21, 1981, in Bronx, New York City, to a Dominican father and Puerto Rican mother. Exposed from a very young age to the sounds of Tropical genres, such as Salsa, Merengue and Bachata. Romeo discovered his talents at the age of 13. Also, he joined the choir of his church, which allowed him to discover his unique vocal skills. As a result, he later formed a group named Los Teenagers, which was very popular among Dominican-American youth in New York City. Also, the main singer and songwriter of Aventura, formed in 1996.
Aventura released their debut album in 1999 and fused it with hip hop and R&B. In 2002, the song “Obsesión” reached number one in Italy and achieved huge success in many countries, topping many international charts. Aventura released five studio albums in a decade. He is one of the most internationally recognized Latin artists and is also the King of the Bachata genre. Then after his success as a songwriter and the lead singer for Aventura, Romeo announced he was leaving the band to pursue a solo career. On May 9, he released the first single off his debut album Formula, Vol.1, called “You”. And the song went number one on the Hot Latin Songs and Tropical Songs charts.
The second single “Promise”, featured a collaboration with R&B singer Usher. As with the previous single, “Promise” topped the Hot Latin Songs and Tropical Songs charts. In 2012, he sold out New York City’s famous Madison Square Garden three nights in a row. Santos is also an actor his first film appearance was on the “Sanky Panky“. Romeo Santos made his Hollywood debut in the film Furious 7, released on April 2015. On February 2017 he released a new single “Héroe Favorito“, the lead single for his upcoming album “Golden”. He then released his new album Golden on July 21, 2017. Then in last April 2019, Santos released the single Aullando with Wisin and Yandel.
