This past weekend was huge for the Mexican community. On Saturday, boxing fans spent their days off from the office watching Mexican boxing hero win yet another championship title. While on Sunday, people celebrated Mexican heritage by following the Cinco de Mayo festivities. Since Mayweather’s retirement, boxing sensation Canelo Alvarez seems to have taken the throne as the most consistent boxer in sports media at the moment. In the fight that just passed, Canelo took on Daniel Jacobs and was able to control most of the fight. After the 12 rounds, the judges made a unanimous decision and named Canelo Alvarez the winner. This victory made Canelo the first Mexican to win three major world titles in a single division.
