Twenty years after her death, Mexican-American music icon, Selena, is being honored during a two-day festival in Corpus Christi, Texas. The “Fiesta de la Flor,” will be held on April 17th and 18th, and will feature an outdoor screening of Selena, her popular biopic starring J-Lo and Edward James Olmos. There will also be performances by several musicians, including her family.
Selena Quintanilla-Pérez was murdered by Yolanda Saldívar at a motel in Corpus Christi on March 31, 1995. Saldívar, who was the president of the singer’s fan club, had been accused of embezzling money, and took his revenge in blood.
Selena’s brother, A.B. Quintanilla, posted about the news in January…
“It’s official April 17th and 18th C.C.TX!!! Music, food, fun!!! Fiesta de la Flor!!! Every year!!!” he wrote.
We’re also excited. It’s always great to see the Queen of Tejano music getting the accolades she deserves… We only wish it wasn’t posthumously.
